Primera Página – Agencia de Noticias – Bogotá.- Annual inflation in Colombia in October 2023 would have continued its moderation path, after the lower annual data observed in April, May, June, July, August and September, according to most of the financial market analysts consulted in the most recent survey of Primera Página. Thus, the 12-month variation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) would continue without registering highs for this century, which was the trend until the first quarter of this year. However, the average of the agents’ forecasts places monthly inflation for October at 0.36%, which would bring the annual reading of this variable down to 10.63% from 10.99% in the previous month. This projected figure for the tenth month, however, is 7.63 percentage points above the Bank of the Republic’s target, which is 3%, and is also 663 basis points higher than the ceiling of the central bank’s allowable range, which is 4%. It should be noted that the monthly reading of the variation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for October, predicted by agents, is 18 basis points lower than the figure observed last September (0.54%) and is 36 basis points below the figure recorded in the tenth month of the previous year (0.72%). Most analysts’ projections anticipate that inflation will remain at double-digit levels for most of this year, with a gradual downward trend. Moreover, analysts already foresee that inflation will not only not converge again to the 3% target in 2023 or 2024, but also will not return to the tolerance range for the Issuer, which is between 2% and 4%.
