Santiago de Chile. – So far in 2024, Latam Airlines shares have risen 21.36%, far outperforming the Ipsa, which has registered a slight loss of 0.15%.

This increase has led Latam to climb positions in the stock market, reaching a market capitalization of US$7,235 million, which positions it as the sixth most valuable company in the Ipsa.

This progress has enabled Latam Airlines to surpass Falabella in market value, with a market capitalization of US$5,998 million. A year ago, Falabella was in sixth position in the selective stock market, but Latam’s solid performance has led to a change in this ranking.

Guillermo Araya, research manager at Renta4, points out that Latam’s post-pandemic monthly growth has been significant, with increases of 20% in both passengers and revenue passenger kilometers (RPK). This growth has driven Latam’s revenue and Ebitdar recovery, outpacing GDP and consumption growth rates in the countries where it operates.

In contrast, Falabella has faced difficult years due to the fall in consumption, although a recovery in Ebitda is expected this year. María Ignacia Flores, senior equity research analyst at Credicorp, points out that factors such as a more favorable macroeconomic context and the company’s efficiency program could boost its recovery.

In the third quarter of 2023, Latam reported earnings for the year.
