Bogotá.- A day after leaving the presidency of Petrobras, Jean Paul Prates informed that Phase II of the Gaslub project in Rio de Janeiro was approved.
During his administration, it was decided that the unit would produce aviation biokerosene and renewable diesel.
It should be noted that the delay in resuming work at Gaslub was one of the reasons for the dismissal of Prates by the President of the Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
In addition to this project, the government made it clear that it wants to accelerate all the company's investments, a challenge that the former general director of the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) will now have to face. Magda Chambriard.
According to Prates, the new plant will have an investment of US$930 million, with a net present value of more than US$ 1 billion.
A pretreatment unit will be implemented, as well as auxiliary units and systems for receiving, shipping, and transporting raw materials and final products.
The plant will have a processing capacity of 1,000,000 tons per year of vegetable and/or animal feedstock, and will meet the future demands of the biofuels market.
