Cartagena de Indias.- In the framework of the XX National Infrastructure Congress, the president, Gustavo Petro, pointed out the importance of rethinking the valorization system as a complementary alternative to tolls.

Petro highlighted the need to alleviate the financial burden on the country’s economy, particularly in the context of imports. He stressed that valorization cannot be applied indiscriminately and must consider the social structure surrounding each road.

The president explained that, unlike roads with a greater social impact, the valuation will not be imposed on small farmers, small farmers or small shopkeepers to avoid their ruin. Petro emphasized the importance of having variables that will allow to charge on wealthy capacities and alleviate the financial burden of road construction for those who transport cargo, essential for the national economy.
