Primera Página – Agencia de Noticias – Bogotá. – According to data provided by the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) and analyzed by the Rural Agricultural Planning Unit (Upra), exports of the agricultural sector in Colombia reached US$962 million in February, an increase of 12.5% compared to the same month of the previous year. This performance is mainly due to the growth in banana, flower and avocado exports, which recorded significant increases of 79.2%, 13.2% and 81.5%, respectively. For the cumulative period from January to February 2024, the total value of exports amounted to US$1,765 million, an increase of 10.9% over the same period of the previous year. Once again, bananas, flowers and avocados stand out as the main drivers of this growth. However, during the last twelve months (March 2023-February 2024), the sector’s exports experienced a 9.2 % decrease in value compared to the same period last year. «The agricultural and agro-industrial sector’s export figures for February 2024 reflect the resilience and competitiveness of our products in the international market. The increase in the value and volume of our exports, especially in products such as bananas, flowers and avocados, is a clear testimony to the commitment and quality of the work done by our producers.
