Bogotá.- More than $120 billion will be allocated to the construction of a Science and Innovation Center in Bogota, for startups and businesses, with public-private resources, where Corferias, a subsidiary of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce (CCB), will be the majority arm.
It will be a six-story building managed by Corferias to attract investors, do business and promote technology companies such as startups.
Investors include the District of Bogota; the family compensation funds, Compensar, Colsubsidio and Cafam, each with a capital of $20 billion; Sena, with an investment of $62 billion; and Corferias, which will be the main arm of the Chamber of Commerce.
The CCB’s initiative is to create a campus specialized in science and technology for companies, and according to its president, José Ovidio Claros, it already has a trust and a plot of land, with a partial plan to execute the works and have the project ready in three years.
«It is going to be autonomous but with a very high participation, let’s say a majority percentage of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogota, with one of its subsidiaries which is Corferias», Claros said.
And he added: «we are going to be like the big investors or we are the big investors and the three compensation funds, Compensar, Colsubsidio and Cafam, are attached to us».
He said that what the CCB wants is for it to be a «building that we can effectively move it towards different elements that can be given to us in the environment of what are the different elements that can be given to us in the environment of what are the three compensation funds, Compensar, Colsubsidar and Cafam».
