Bogotá.-Gases de Occidente, a Promigas company, and Harinera del Valle, which makes pasta for Grupo Nutresa, inaugurated this Friday the first solar farm of this company in the Villa Rica, Cauca plant.
Harinera del Valle has more than 75 years of history as a company from Valle del Cauca that now proposes a production with sustainable energies.
The new solar farm has an area of six thousand square meters, is composed of 1,666 panels with an installed capacity of 999.6 kilowatt peak (kWp) and annually generates 1,428 megawatt hours (MWh). With this renewable energy initiative, 571.2 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) are no longer emitted per year, which is equivalent to 11,424 trees planted.
Harinera del Valle will generate up to 30% of clean energy for its plant in Villa Rica, Cauca, where La Muñeca, Conzazoni, Pugliese and San Remo pastas (Grupo Nutresa products) are produced.
"Making the dream of inaugurating our first Solar Farm a reality, with which we generate 30% of clean energy for this plant, where more than 90 tons of pasta are produced per day, fills us with immense pride, because it shows how we are moving decisively towards a transition to renewable energies, a crucial component to achieve sustainable economic growth," said Juan Carlos Henao, general manager of Harinera del Valle.
