The president of Ecopetrol, Ricardo Roa Barragán said that "it is often said that we are destroying the great company of all Colombians, and the numbers show the opposite. We are achieving results in technical, operational and economic terms, for the shareholders and for the Nation". He added: "Much is said that the year 2022 was extraordinary, and yes, it was, with a price above 90 dollars per barrel. In 2023, the price per barrel registered a drop of 17 dollars", said Roa. According to him, "78% is the impact of the drop in the price of crude oil in 2023 compared to 2022". And he added: "Ecopetrol was handed over with a liquidity problem, as this deficit was transferred to the Fuel Price Stabilization Fund, which in 2020, 2021, and 2022, is a sum of almost $100 billion".
